Peak Challenge - Canadian Mountain Running Championships

The Canadian Mountain Running Championships took place this past weekend at the
Peak Challenge, held on Mt Seymour near Vancouver, BC.  The event attracted eager runners from all over North America, as the 12km ascent would offer a difficult test for mountain runners vying for a selection on the World Mountain Running Championship team in Switzerland.

Saab-Salomon 5 Peaks Series: Snake Hills, Sundre

The Saab Salomon 5 Peaks Series continued in Sundre, Alberta this past weekend with a slick run on the Snake Hills Recreation trails.  Over 300 runners lined up at the start for another great event in the Rocky Mountain foothills.

Saab/Salomon 5 Peaks Report - Flight Crew Posts 4 podiums

The Saab/Salomon 5 Peaks Series hosted a triple header this past weekend with events in both Northern Alberta (Devon) and Central Alberta (Sibald Flats), as well as in Southern Ontario (Durham Regional Forest).  All three events attracked strong fields, including members of the Salomon Flight Crew!

5 Peaks Trail Running: COP Mud Fest Fun!

It was a very muddy start to the Alberta Saab/Salomon 5 Peaks Trail Race Series as a week of consistent rain in the Bow Valley/Calgary area made for some extremely muddy tracks around the 5km circuit at Calgary Olympic Park (COP) event.  Over 225 Sport (1 lap) and Enduro (2 laps) runners did their best to 'slip and slide' around the slick single track and although almost everyone lost their footing on the slippery surface, their only comfort came from a relatively soft (yet mushy) landing!

Kangarloo Blog Update: CK Wins Prairie Stage Race
Land of Living Skies - Redux

I Traveled out to Saskatoon with the Block brothers this past weekend for the Bikes on Broadway stage race. I raced this event last year and lets just say I came out of it with somewhat of a sour taste in my mouth. I wasn't looking forward to it. That being said, once I swung my legs over my bike and turned my pedals over in anger, last year's experience was erased from my mind. Sure, we had an incredibly boring six hour drive to deal with but once that was out of the way, the weekend was a blast.

Crazy Soles Nipika Trail Run

Come join us for the inaugural Crazy Soles Nipika Trail Run on Saturday May 31, 2008 at 10:30am. Participate in either the 10km, 21km or if you are really brave, the 42km. The event trails will take runners along the spectacular Kootenay and Cross River valleys past deep canyons, waterfalls and unbelievable mountain scenery.  Kids want to get involved? Kids can do either 3km or 10km.

Saab-Salomon Mountain-X Race Qualifier #2 Results

The quest to win an entry package to this summer’s Saab Salomon Mountain-X Race in the French Alps has come to an end.  Last weekend’s Axis Gear Storm the Trent (EVENT#2 of 2) was a sold out event, taking place on a glorious weather day.  450 racers took to the Kawarthas, biking, running, and paddling their way across Sean Roper’s stellar racecourse.

AWCA Caps Off First Camp in Silver Star

The Alberta World Cup Academy wrapped up a great week of training at the Sovereign Lake Nordic Ski Trails located on Silver Star Mountain, BC.  Ski conditions stayed very consistent during the entire week, and provided the team members with a great opportunity to get a head start on their technique.

Alberta WC Ski Academy Media

The Alberta World Cup Ski Academy is barely off the ground and already getting good media attention.  A total of 15 athletes from the Bow Valley and across Canada have been selected for this Canmore based private development centre.  The team is currently training in Silver Star Mountain, BC as part of a 1-week training spring skiing camp.
